Swimming and water sports

In Biograd, excellent city beaches are all easily accessible, and from the center of town, they are connected by a curved beachside walkway. Bošana beach may be found in the northern edge of the town and extends itself immediately in front of sea-facing apartment buildings. With all the necessary conveniences, the only thing missing is cool shade since there is no forested area nearby.

The beach is situated between the Adriatic Sea and the shady, scented pines as a backdrop. The seawater is exceptionally clean (blue flags proudly wave on the shore) and you will descend down a staircase to the seaside. You can also swim in various spots along the Biograd seaside walkway. There are lovely beaches in Filip-Jakov, as well as in Pakoštane. A gorgeous beach at the Crvena Luka hotel complex is only three kilometers away from Biograd. Although there are no additional activities to supplement your swimming and relaxation, it pays to go, simply due to the clean sea water, shallow sandy sea floor, and thick protective pine trees which surround the harbor (its name means “Red harbor” so be prepared to take photos of some breathtaking sunsets!).

If you have always wanted to swim on an island, Pašman and his Siamese brother Ugljan have excellent beaches. The ferry to Pašman runs from Biograd fairly often, and the trip takes only 20-or-so minutes. The island has a nudist camp Sovinje with a fine, sandy beach. Many who love to swim alone find peace and serenity on Vrgada, which has lovely, sandy beaches. Automobiles are not allowed on the island, and the regular ferry lines, as well as somewhat pricier excursion boats, embark from Biograd or Pakoštane. There are also lovely beaches on the Sveta Katarina island, as well as Planac, Babac, and Mali and Veliki Dužac which are mainly accessible by excursion or private boats.

Dražica and Soline Beaches may be found beside the scenic walkway which leads from the Hotel Ilirija to the Soline bay. A full array of activities are available, for everyone – from fun and entertainment to gastro and sports-recreational, with something for the kids, as well.
